To My Beloved Shiloh Family and Friends,

Jeremiah 10:23 “O Lord, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps.”

This is a confession and an acknowledgement of humble dependence upon God. A person’s life cannot be considered his own, not in himself, nor is he free to direct his steps.  No person can walk aright apart from the revelation of God in His Word.  The minute a person turns from the Word of God, he is on a detour.  A person is incapable of guiding his own life adequately.

Our success comes from God.  He guided and governed us.  God has planned the life of each one of us.  Man may have the power to “walk,” but where his steps will lead he cannot “direct.”  The way of man is not in himself; a person is free to choose his way, and for his choice he is responsible.  But a person is not allowed to determine all that shall come of that choice or what its issues and results shall be.  God has the final say.
